Mean Machine is a chainstitch embroidery studio based in Grand Rapids, Michigan specializing in custom designs and experiential embroidery events. It was founded by Ani Brower, a maker and wearer of many hats in the fashion industry. She freehands artwork with a machine that was used prior to the automization of modern embroidery machines. This unique practice makes pieces truely one of a kind and meaningful so that can be passed on as a heirloom. Mean Machine can embroider a specific artwork or create a custom design for you. Pricing varies on scale, font, and color used in a design.

Events

Mean Machine is available for pop up chainstitch events at retail spaces, parties, and weddings. Similar to flash tattoos, a chainstitch event provides on-the-spot personalization for clothing and accessories. During a pop-up event, Mean Machine can embroider names, monograms, or custom designs. Customers or guests can watch the chainstitch embroidery machine in action while enjoying the experience of adding a handmade touch to their items.

Alterations

Ani has been a professional seamstress for ten years. She currently partners with stores and individual clients for alterations. While she does most alterations, her specialty is denim.
